The scientific-practical journal “Statistical News” was entered into the Register of Periodical Publications of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan on 7 October 2015 under number 4004 and was registered with the International Centre for the International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) under ISSN 2413-6557. In addition, by the decision of the Presidium of the Supreme Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 31 March 2017 (Protocol № 06-R), the journal was included in the section of economic sciences of the “List of periodic scientific publications recommended for the publication of main results of dissertations in the Republic of Azerbaijan.” Articles submitted to the scientific-practical journal “Statistical News” are published in accordance with the rules established by the Supreme Attestation Commission.
The scientific-practical journal “Statistical News” publishes articles that have not been submitted to other publications, giving priority to research on the theoretical and methodological foundations of statistical science, the statistical analysis of economic, social, ecological, and demographic processes, as well as studies related to the economy and the social sphere.
Journal analyzes the main directions of development of official statistics, forthcoming challenges related with improvement of social and economic statistical areas that arisen from various state programs and concepts. Moreover, it presents demographic situation in the world and in Azerbaijan, the correct planning of the number and structure of family members, the role of statistical methods and statistical data in the preparation of quality demographic forecasts and the importance of modern information systems in the management of social sphere. Journal reflects the importance of international events for tourism development in Azerbaijan, the tourism spending in Azerbaijan, further dynamic development of culture and tourism in Azerbaijan, the successful policy and development dynamics in Azerbaijan in this area. Trade operations carried out by the residents and non-residents of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the volume of export and import transactions in foreign trade turnover, as well as the importance of the role of financial sector in the country's economy and its increasing significance in carrying out economic reforms are emphasized here. The main directions of the development of the financial sector of Azerbaijan are investigated in the context of the key economic indicators. The essence, methodology and mechanisms of relevant reports prepared by leading global rating agencies on the countries’ economic development indicators, the established boundaries of the economy non-observed in official statistics, in line with international standards, and the importance of official statistics in political studies, propaganda and counter-propaganda have also been analyzed.
